WHAT TO EXPECT

If you're new to chiropractic care or visiting TriTown Chiropractic for the first time, you're probably wondering what to expect. Our goal is to make you feel informed, comfortable, and confident in your care. Here's what your initial visit will include—and answers to some common questions.

A Thorough Health History

We begin by getting to know you. Your first visit includes an expansive consultation where we take a detailed health history. We’ll discuss your symptoms, medical background, lifestyle factors, and goals for care. This helps us understand the bigger picture and tailor a treatment plan to your unique needs.

Objective Exam

Following the detailed history, we perform a comprehensive objective examination. This may include posture analysis, range of motion testing, orthopedic and neurological assessments, and other functional movement screens. These tests help us narrow down potential causes of your symptoms, determine an accurate diagnosis, and identify the areas that need care. Further testing may be necessary including but not limited to X-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound, and EMG.

Review of Findings

Once your exam is complete and we’ve identified your diagnosis, we’ll sit down with you for a Review of Findings. During this conversation, we explain what we found, what it means, and how it relates to your specific symptoms. You’ll gain a clear understanding of your condition and the care options available to you, so you can make informed decisions about your health. We’re always happy to answer questions and make sure you feel comfortable moving forward.

Commonly Asked Questions About Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care focuses on the alignment of the nervous system and spine to relieve discomfort, pain, and other health issues. At TriTown Chiropractic, our science-backed approach utilizes an exam and adjustments to help deliver the best treatment option for your needs. Read our commonly asked questions below to learn more about chiropractic care and what to expect during a visit to TriTown Chiropractic.

  • How Does Chiropractic Work?

Chiropractic care focuses on the relationship between the spine and the nervous system. Misalignments or dysfunction in the spine can interfere with nerve signals and lead to discomfort, pain, or other health issues. Through precise, hands-on techniques known as adjustments, we help restore mobility, reduce nerve irritation, and support your body’s natural ability to heal.

  • Is Chiropractic Scientific?

Yes. Chiropractic care is grounded in science and supported by research in areas such as biomechanics, anatomy, neurology, and clinical outcomes. At TriTown Chiropractic, we use evidence-based methods specific to each patient. That means your care is informed by the best available research, clinical expertise, and your unique health situation.

  • What Is an Adjustment?

An adjustment is a gentle, controlled movement applied to specific joints to restore motion and improve alignment. You may feel a stretch in the targeted area, followed by a sensation of release. You might hear or feel a “pop” as the joint moves—this is completely normal and is simply a release of built-up gas and pressure. Many people feel relief, better mobility, or a sense of ease following an adjustment.

  • Is It Safe?

Chiropractic care is very safe when provided by a licensed, trained professional. At TriTown Chiropractic, we take your safety seriously. Before any care is provided, we conduct a thorough examination to rule out any conditions that may require a different approach. If we detect any “red flags” during your history or exam—such as signs of underlying illness or issues that should be co-managed or referred out—we will guide you toward the appropriate care pathway. Any risks or concerns will be thoroughly discussed before treatment begins.

  • What Is That Popping Sound?

The popping or cracking sound you may hear during an adjustment is the result of gas—like oxygen or nitrogen—being released from the joint as pressure is relieved. It’s similar to cracking your knuckles. However, hearing a pop is not necessary for the adjustment to be successful. In fact, some effective adjustments produce no sound at all. What matters is the restoration of joint motion and function, not the audible response.

  • How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Every person is different. Some patients feel significant relief after just one or two visits, while others benefit from a longer care plan to correct chronic or complex issues. After your exam, we’ll explain your personalized treatment plan, including the recommended number and frequency of visits. We’ll also reassess your progress regularly to ensure your care evolves with your needs.
